I picked this up mostly for the tarot-inspired concept, and I was not ready for how well the ancestry and destiny themes land together. The pacing is tight enough that I finished it in one sitting, and the author’s debut energy feels polished, not tentative. Definitely keeping an eye out for whateve
The art is absolutely gorgeous, and I love how the tarot cards actually drive the plot instead of just being a theme. The way Sam Prentice-Jones weaves the ancestral guilt into the fantasy really hit me, and I finished it in one sitting.
