Grandma Dowdel is such a vivid character that I felt like I was right there in that small town with her and Mary Alice. The way Peck builds each chapter around a new scheme had me turning pages faster than I expected. A perfect follow-up to the first book, with the same warmth and mischief.

This sequel is just as charming as the first book, capturing the same mischievous spirit of Grandma Dowdel. I loved how the small-town setting pulls you right into Mary Alice’s world again, and the humor feels as sharp and fresh as ever.

I picked this up for my granddaughter and ended up reading it myself first—the way Grandma Dowdel’s schemes unfold is just as clever and heartwarming as in the first book.
