아마도 외딴곳이 애스터가 생각했던 것보다 더 흥미로울지도 모른다.
The boredom-to-magic setup hooked me immediately, and the pacing never dragged once Aster’s parents got busy with their science. I loved how the quiet nature setting slowly turned into something unexpected, making the whole thing feel like a cozy mystery with a twist.
I was bracing for a slow burn with the whole “quiet nature” setup, but the way Aster’s boredom flips into actual chaos caught me off guard in the best way. The parents being too busy with science to notice anything is such a relatable hook, and it makes the accidental magic hit way harder. Finished
The opening chapter nails that bored-kid-in-the-woods feeling so perfectly I actually laughed out loud, and the pacing picks up fast once the magic kicks in. My daughter kept sneaking chapters past bedtime, which says everything.
