NY: Simon & Schuster [1950]. 8vo, 124pp. Dorso in tela rossa con impressioni in nero, copertine in tessuto blu strutturato con impressioni figurate in nero. Risguardi illustrati a colori; illustrazioni a colori in tutto il volume. Estremità del dorso e bordo inferiore leggermente sfregati, alcune leggere macchie sui risguardi posteriori (probabilmente dovute a qualcosa inserito tra di essi), per il resto esemplare in ottime condizioni nella sovraccoperta originale illustrata a colori (leggere pieghe alle estremità del dorso e agli angoli). Firmato dall'autore, James Thurber, e con un ex libris firmato dall'artista, Marc Simont, allegato!

 

Prima edizione. La fiaba sublimemente stravagante di Thurber sull'amore ostacolato ha deliziato generazioni di lettori, e le incantevoli illustrazioni a colori di Marc Simont elevano davvero questo libro allo status di classico che merita.

The blue textured cloth covers with the pictorial stamping are even more striking in person, and Marc Simont's illustrations inside are crisp and charming. This copy arrived in far better shape than I expected for a book from 1950, and the pages are clean with no musty smell at all.

The red cloth spine with black stamping looks fantastic on the shelf, and the pictorial stamping on the covers really gives it that vintage 1950s charm. This copy arrived in solid shape for its age, pages clean and binding tight, a nice find for any Thurber collector.
